We read something the other day that we haven’t been able to shake: A woman’s lowest life point happens between 45-55. We’re talking peak depression, highest divorce rates, and greatest decrease in earning potential.
This isn’t random. This isn’t personal failure. This can’t be a coincidence. This is perimenopause!
Just when we’re finally stepping into our power, our bodies throw us a massive curveball. We’re running on empty while trying to fill everyone else’s tank. We’re feeling like strangers in our own bodies. And it’s ALL happening at once:
- We’re pushing harder than ever at work, while somehow still being the family glue-sticks that keep our households running.
- We’re playing chef, Uber driver, and therapist to our hormonal teens.
- Then there’s the long-distance, aging parent care – Michelle’s been supporting her mother-in-law through cancer and coordinating her dad’s new teeth, while Mikelle’s struggling to support parents across provincial and international borders.
- And because life loves a challenge, we’re juggling university savings, retirement planning, and inflation – all while trying to keep our sanity intact.
Some days we wonder how we’re still standing! Other days we don’t even bother to try.
There was a time when we thought we just couldn’t handle life anymore. And when we went to our doctors for help, we got a pat on the head, were handed the lollypop and told to buck up.
We’re done with that narrative. That’s why we’re building this community. Because you deserve to have the knowledge, support, and understanding that we wish we’d had.
And we’ve started thinking about perimenopause differently. Yes it hits us at a really challenging time, but together, with the support of this incredible community, it doesn’t have to knock us down.
Instead, this is our butterfly moment. Yes, right now the chrysalis stage feels chaotic and uncomfortable, but we’re preparing for flight.
Here’s a little inspiration to help you spread those wings…

Trust us, these 13 minutes will be one of the best investments you make in your health. When it comes to the hard facts on menopause, Dr. Jen Gunter is the GOAT. Her latest video, “The Science of Menopause in 13 Minutes,” is a must-watch. With her signature no-nonsense style, Dr. Gunter provides clear facts and zero fluff to help you make informed choices about your health.
LEARN about this:

Science just validated what we’ve all been feeling. The Seattle Midlife Women’s Health Study spent 15 years tracking women through their midlife journey, and guess what? It’s not ‘all in your head’. From career pressures hitting during peak brain fog symptoms to family crises exploding when our emotional regulation is at its lowest – this sh!t is hard! And this study finally tells our story.
LAUGH out loud:

This has our vote for the Funniest Perimenopause Reel of the Year!
And the F’d up thing is that this was probably the most comprehensive and logical summary of all the crap in our IG feed these days. So, thank you @bigtimeadulting.
“Comment: Science” 😂🤣😂
We really LOVE:

Lock the bathroom door and declare a timeout. These shower steamers are perfect for those days when everyone needs a piece of you and you’ve got nothing left to give. With a name that perfectly captures our perimenopause mood, these are the self-care gift we’re giving all our friends this holiday. Guaranteed to make them smile.
The science confirms what we’ve known all along – these years are tough! So, whether you’re thriving or just surviving today, we’ve got you. Until next Thursday!
xoxo,
Mikelle & Michelle
