Do You Know Your Money?

Do you know your money?

Money. We all know we need it. Especially in perimenopause. Not only is figuring out our bodies expensive, we’ve got: kids’ education, aging parents, new careers, relationship changes, and on and on. Life gets expensive.

But as we encounter more examples of smart women getting caught off guard by financial challenges, we’ve started asking why. What we’re realizing is many of us don’t ‘know’ our money. As in:

  • Do you know where you stand financially?
  • What does money mean for you? Security? Freedom? Choices?
  • Do you have a scarcity or an abundance mindset?
  • Are you getting paid what you’re worth?

Consider this:

  • In Canada, women’s unpaid work is worth about $490 billion.
  • For every 1$ men earn, women earn 87¢ on average per hour.
  • Women save smaller amounts than men and tend toward investments that offer lower returns.
  • Women > 50 who divorced faced a 45% drop in standard of living, while a man’s standard of living dropped by 21%.

Ouff. You’ve already got a lot on your plate and now ‘banker’ Mikelle has you stressing about money. Our goal is not to overwhelm, but to hit home that your financial well-being needs to be part of your perimenopausal toolkit.
